Describe the end use of the building:
This building houses the North Shore Winery and Sawtooth Mountain Cider House. It has four distinct areas; a tasting room for drinking and purchases, a barrel room for events, a production space for the wine and cider and also an office area.
Due to the short construction season, timeing was critical in the project. SIP panels made the construction window short enough to get the project done. Focus was on energy efficiency and stability due to the need for precise temperature control for the wine and cider.
SIP wall thickness and core material: 6" walls R-26
SIP roof thickness and core material: 10" roof R-40
Additional factors: All insulated panels, walls and roof with bean construction, dual fuel boilers and in floor radiant heat were used throughout. A propane boiler, LOW-E windows (Marvin U-27) and all high efficiency mechanicals work to contribute to the energy efficiency of the structure.
Low VOC paints, concrete floor with in-floor heat
This project lends itself well to its surroundings, fits well into the woods of the north shore and provides not only a winery but a room for people to meet in a comfortable and quiet building.
